Goals and Activities!

My goals:
1) I hope to be able to read and write the entire hiragana and katakana alphabet quickly and fluently, and be able to understand and write a decent amount of kanji by the end of the year.
2)  I want to be able to have a conversation with someone in Japanese with natural prosody and minimal pauses.
3) I would like to be able to understand anime or Japanese speakers without translation, like subtitles.

Activities to meet goals:

1) Go to しばたせんせいの office hours at least once or twice a week to practice speaking and pronunciation with her.
2)  Go to さとうせんせいの office hours at least once or twice a week to ask questions and go over work.
3) Visit the Japanese language table every Tuesday (if I don't forget by accident!)
4) Watch something with Japanese speaking in it, like anime, for at least 3 hours a week.
5) Practice writing characters and phrases in hiragana, katakana, or kanji, for 30 minutes every day.

Sorry that this is late, I had a lot to catch up on!
Thank you for visiting my blog!

Why I chose to study Japanese!

こんいちわ!

Japanese has always been a fascinating language and culture for me, as I have seen a lot of it throughout my life. Although I have not watched much anime,  I have always found it and Japanese style artwork to be very pleasing. I have always wanted to be able to understand the language more to be more involved with the culture.

I think that the entertainment environment in Japan is a great place to be a part of, and I would like to be able to understand the language to be able to get as much information as I can about what's new in the entertainment world.

I am very excited to learn more about the language, and how to speak it with prosody. I also want to be able to read kanji and be able to understand it. Because I entered the class a week late, I found that my first week was a bit overwhelming, because there was a lot of material I had to catch up on. So far,  I have found that remembering the hiragana alphabet is the most challenging thing for me. But, I know that with time, I will be able to improve my skills.
